Modern general practice is delivered by a mixed portfolio of healthcare professionals supporting the doctors. With the development of Primary Care Networks the team will further expand to clinicians such as Mental health Practitioners and Physiotherapists in the future.
Dr Syed Abdi, Dr Shahzad Ahmad and Dr Nida Abdi are also partners in the practice. This means they are owners of the business that is contracted to provide General Medical Services under contract to the NHS. As well as seeing patients the Partners have to make time to look after the management and administration of the practice.
One of our GPs is a salaried GP. These GPs are permanent members of the clinical team but do not have their own list of registered patients.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners are Registered Nurses who have done extra training and academic qualifications to be able to examine, assess, make diagnoses, treat, prescribe, and make referrals for patients.
Physician associates (PAs) are healthcare professionals with a generalist medical education who work alongside doctors providing medical care as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. The midwives work with us to provide care before and after delivery. The midwife has a clinic here on Friday mornings, by appointment only booked via our reception.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
Counselling is available via ‘Talk Liverpool’, a service provided by Merseycare NHS trust. Patients can self-refer for this service by telephoning 0151 228 2300. Graduate health care workers – can offer support & help to people affected by depression and anxiety.
Our Social Prescriber can work with you to identify your non-medical needs and support you to access the right service for you. The Social Prescriber for our surgery is Noor Islam. Noor has years of experience of working within local communities and general practice.
